About the Guernsey Language Commission

The Guernsey government is committed to protecting the island’s environment, culture, and heritage - with the Guernsey Language being a big part of that.

The Guernsey Language Commission works to keep Guernésiais alive by supporting those who celebrate and teach it. While funded by a government grant, the Commission also welcomes support from local businesses and individuals.

Become a volunteer

Be part of Guernsey’s language revival and join us as a volunteer and help bring Guernesiais, our island’s unique dialect, back to life.

Once spoken every day, this beautiful language is a vital piece of our heritage. By getting involved, you’ll help keep its stories, traditions, and local charm alive for future generations. Let’s make Guernesiais heard again!
